All You Really Need To Know I Learned In Law School

1. Always use plain English, not old English. Straight talk is a hot trend, metaphors are banned.

2. If you seek equity, you must do equity. Do have clean, fair hands.

3. Candor is a duty, not an option. Unless you’re into sanctions.

4. Zealous advocacy is a duty. Zeal should not be a problem.

5. There must be a sufficient number of chairs at the table in order for all voices to be heard. The table is a fine place to start.

6. Draft a strong pleading, sign it boldly in black ink. Failure to do so will leave you at the mercy of the court.

7. Virtue is persuasive. See also: persuasiveness is a virtue.

8. The law is a societal equalizer. This bears repeating: The Law is a beautiful thing.
