Were I A Painter

Whisper I will
All I want you to know
For the louder I speak
The less that I’ll tell

Fire and blue
Are the colors of you
And you’re surely
Why my eyes are green

Do you know that I hear
Mountains sing far and near
When I gaze on the ease
In your eyes

I’m compelled to wear glitter
To bid you come nearer
And gently tease out your magic
You’re magic

The calm and the force
In your every breath calls
On the faith
And the courage in me

A photograph
Of your life would reflect
A long-burning soul
A light that won’t quit

At night when I sleep
I’m often stirred
By your symphony
Slumbering there

In my dreams I cast out
A shadow next to you
On the sand, in the leaves
‘neath the moon

In this life and the next
There’ll not be enough time
To bear witness to
The good in your walk

I wish to wait
Until I’m ninety two
If that’s what I must do
To hold you
