As you were my Knight
Unable to speak the truth
You’ve been my mourning

As you were my Knight
Unable to speak the truth
You’ve been my mourning

I have been to lavender fields on what you might call
“A great day.”
Oh that the flowers would have told me,
“Love buds not with him — come fast away!”
He’ll not pray that you sit
He’ll not fight the good fight
He’ll not be by your side ‘til the end
You’re the bride and the groom
You’re your own epic bloom
You’re your bravest and loving best friend

Sometimes you’re certain
Signs say it’s safe to surface
Should they lie, survive

Have you gotten lost
In the way a person’s lips move
As their certain eyes betray the world‘s lies
As they speak on what is absolute
On what is true
Truly good
Beautiful, absolutely
As they share the epic story
Do you see reflecting from their intent gaze upon the author of history
God?

Take what you gave
What they so freely took
Back
Un-name it
Re-name it
Yours again now
To own
To celebrate
To sing and dance about
To hold
Now This instead of That
To release
As You Wish
And never for takers to taste

Wherever is my friend
Mock human
Mocking human sorrow
Under a guise
A disguise
Of shared humanity
Which, were you to dig deep
You would dig
Had you any true depth at all
What if I befriended time
Then took its outstretched hand
Separation was no more
Despite life’s shifting sand
Daytime, nighttime were as one
Without the fear of loss
Silver seconds, yearnless years
And age no bridge to cross
I beckon thee to join with me
In unrelenting drive
To put away some thought of death
To embrace what’s alive
Each minute is a golden hour
Each breath a pulsar day
When time gives us its outstretched hand
We must not look away
