I’d deemed the song done.
Dimmed the House lights. Then you stepped
to the podium.

This Haiku: Pushing Buttons

Wherever they are
Your mind and your thoughts right now
Are where they must be

How is it you’re odd.
Yet so perfect. Always late.
And still right on time.

And so it seems now
That I’m broken and exposed
Rebuilding begins

You’ve kind with your wise
A shy smile after Bright Eyes
This world needs your style

If I jump gentle
And God will give His blessing
Will you breathe for Me?

I’ll never forget
The hand and the sideways smile
That left me breathless

Nor animal tracks
That pitt-er-pat-erred on my
Heart and bees that buzzed

Pleadings to breathe deep
Love more, cherish time, notice
-Dismiss at what cost?

Photos, TV shows
Pink hearts, one big hug -stay too
All’s as it should be

Set tall boundaries
It’s your best idea yet
No one dares cross them

I wrestle with wild
It stiff-arms, to keep me safe
It smiles and it waits

An eternal friend
When I cry, you stay near me
You expect my smile
