You’ve Eagle Feathers

Please don’t put on
Practical shoes
They’ll trip you
And trap you
Your whole soul you’ll lose

Please put on leathers
Or wear white whenever
It’s all the better
To grab tight the throttle
And drink from the bottle
Of wild
You’ve Eagle feathers

Magician, I swear

Who will entertain
the Nay-Sayers,
the Don’t-Want-Magics?
Warmly I’ll greet them
at my door
but if they’ve no rabbit for my hat,
that
shine-free dust will look from afar through my threshold.
We’ll talk of the weather
and other non-things
then I’ll offer a wish and “Adieu….”

I Fell Deaf: A Haiku

Jewels drip-dropped down
at the sight, the tenor rasp,
singing so sacred.

Rubies and white pearls
fell hard -the Earth must have quaked,
and heartstrings strummed soft.

Earth, she’s bewildered
at the desire she contains
for her and The Moon.

Rubies, pearls, Earth, Moon,
bow a moment to give pause
before spinning off….
