lovely as a book

Such is my soulmate
A book
A hardcover Guide To Kindness

This marriage
No industry harm shall it do
Mixing anecdotes, poetry, humor

For love is truly love
Each genre held in high esteem
Original edition, sacred

Mostly Mist

I knew the moment was thick
I knew the air was ripe
And Summer was coming with flowers and all

I’ve not seen such storms since
Electric and flashing nonstop at night
And the garden gave proof at daylight

I knew there were miles to run
I knew there’d be whirring wheels down unknown roads
And I let white petal-thoughts lead

I’d not thought that Fall I’d fall
Rising then falling again and again
And I’ve touched no sweet blooms at all

Magic Friend

Come from behind the black velveted moon and stars
Mr. Warlock
Mr. Wizard
For I know you’re magic
And I need your magic
To end the smoke that has left me unable to breathe
To shatter the mirrors I don’t dare look into
Which cloak might I wear while we sit and you whisper in alchemist drawl?

Mystic Brew

Only, only softness come ’round my shoulders today
Yesteryear’s harsh caress wiped clean
By a silly child’s clinging arms
The cinnamon purr of a warm West Wind
And Eastern kindness brewed just for me Mystically

Country Crickets

Tiny, shiny red dress in the dark of my closet
Hanging next to that wishin’ shirt
Barefoot together, I’ll wear them, I will
Sitting on my porch swing, eyes closed, crickets applauding
A summer night so warm, I’ll not care I’m alone

Flame

 Invite me to listen
To all you believe
I’ll sit proper
Hoping to hear, but knowing I won’t
How what’s in your heart spilled out to the streets
We’ll toast to your voice and I’ll take my leave

Talk with me though
On all that you know
How you held the grey captive
Extending your hand -healed it
I’ll ask you to speak slow, I’ll stay at your feet
My heart your tent of gold
