The Duel

Always one step
Never not one height
Ahead and above
Joy you were

Always I walked
Never half-hearted
Faith and love
Hope I had

Always an ending
Never though certain
Sharp and swift
Blind it came

smiles beginning

Do you choose the music you wrap yourself in

Or does it choose you

How does it begin

I’d lay bets you reach out

With willowy fingers

And some silken spider’s web smiles

And ensnares you as you thoughtlessly smile back

Coaxing it close around you, knowing you’ve no need to grasp

And this music and this you and this ease

Finds us ensnared in the silk and the silly

Smiles beginning

Saffron or Something

 Your skin carries the scent
Of curry
But I’m not certain if it’s yours or mine
There’s no space between us
Anymore

Your lips remind of the burn
Of cinnamon
But I warn you to go lightly
There’s no accountability on my part
Going forward

Red

I’m not bored
I’m just
Batting at baubles
Hanging from the Christmas tree
Stretching and such
Playing coy
Biding my time
Until
That other cool cat comes back
