What more will we be
When with one defiant stroke
We tether our hearts

Insisting on Sun
Through the thick collage of clouds
Our hearts now alight

I can do no more
Cries all but one piece of me
The piece I cling to

You are invited
Or you are uninvited
Attend either way

Fire. My fire, our fire
erases all their despair.
We promise them fire.

With glitter I cleaned
And I’ve no damned idea
Whether you noticed

I move quietly
Certain amidst so much noise
Hope will live untamed

Whether I’ll survive
This is moment-to-moment
The Book and the Rock

I know the secret
To reduce you to a smile
Kiss your intellect

I’m holding my own
hand atop my beating heart
for to celebrate.
