Oh, I do
Hope
May The Flowers read my thousand thoughts
My apologies for the thistle, I allowed to crowd
Forgive me for the invasive vines, that strangled your sunlight away

As I stayed grieving lost ground

There, at blooms edge, sat I

Dreams began to die

But for a mid-morning,
A cool sunlit day, then, did I decide
To pause and prosecute, with an, “anchors aweigh,” a finally-freed echinacea
With my accomplished call, did the butterfly bush become tall

“No more…by the grace of God, no more”

The Greatest

Our colors, like water…like oxygen…work well together…like art from artists, were we to work in earnest.

What say you, America — will we work on love, on great…’fore the hour becomes late?

A Making

A going has to come, I know
An acquiescence to the shortened days
A refusing to refuse the night

I’ll clothe myself in skin-tone colors
I will stop hearing creation’s groan silenced
I’ll start feeling good, acting great, again

Expectant

my Society
thought little of me

accept the breadcrumb trail
beg for a Holy Grail

return home empty handed
scraps to be demanded

now I know what’s true
honor is for me too

my heart the goldest medal
demands that I not settle
