Comfort and Time

Comfort and Time

Let us live barefoot
Neglecting not our skin and faith ‘gainst vintage hardwood paths

Morning to morning
Dutiful with the truth of time yet careless of its grip

Feeling our steps’ worth
Determined to flee concrete trails that fail and lead awry

Water and earth shift
Considering doubt, yet days are short — Heav’n asks that we walk

Original Thought Credit: “Look closely, then, how you walk…making the most of time….” — Ephesians 5:15

Blur

Fault me — I henceforth forego jitterbugging feet
Assert some bias in my blood which rejects dancehall beat

As time tiktoks, I cling instead to swaying with the strings
Tango, Pan-Hellenic sway, and all such passion brings

Step danced exclamations void of pop-cultural fray
Barefoot, solo, or with friends — come…blur night into day

Your Name

Yes to just you
Remind me your name
Let us dress fancy
Strut down grand stairways
Dance in the dust of once-hallowed halls
Both end up barefoot with no news of our shoes
Yes I’d be honored
Remind me your name
