Houdini
No knowing, anymore
No trusting
Houdini at the helm
While, wide-eyed and wondering
We write
Vaya: A Haiku
That bird’s got a song
Man, he’s gonna sing today
Open your window
Backyard Blackbird: A Haiku
Slow-motion moment
Becomes that magic minute
Through sunlit feathers
actual bird
little nest
little magpie
little by little
Fall then Fly
big fear
big when-why
bigger and bigger
Leave the Lie
Blot: A Haiku
Soaring, swooping thing
You’re asking me to notice
Yet distracting me
How Big
Why will I never meet the scars, the stars I’d wished to kiss
The puzzle pieces I knew I could fit together, if given a lifetime
Why will my fingers never fumble and finally find the picture of you
How big the whole of you, the hole left in me
Flight Risk: A Haiku
a fortiori
Why the grown hawk would struggle on
The wind
I cannot know
I've seen it, though
And desiring
To help things along for regalness sake
I reached up on high
In prayer
To see burden lifted, compass-mark found
The Laughing Dance
Screens
Shades
And curtains
Never served me for certain
So I’ve torn them all down with glee
With one sole, honest purpose
To risk
Birds
Bugs
And butterflies
Too, a stray cat
Who’ll mingle with me
