Telltale

I know the something borrowed
Lace of the finest quality
Painstakingly tethered, stitch by stitch, to hopes and holy, holy covenants

The Queen and her heartless Jack
As jesters, and, despite the diamond, danced that old medieval dance, anew each day
I know the something blue

Blue Damsels

Diminished

From the wind, I think

Or what’s riding on it

Chilled uncertainty?

Despite any positive prophecy or revelation

Holy, scholarly, or both

It’s what troubles me to the core today

And my sisters too

So let us weep in any and all ways tonight

So the morrow we’ll feel as ourselves again

Whole

Mormon Row

With grateful paintbrush in hand, I am leaving space for you

A beautiful a background, careful, I capture the sun

Find now open an area broad enough and close enough to the sky

That your shoulders might fit and comfortably give rest to what is

I know not the shape of you, tho’ your colors, you’ve made clear

Bright-dark weathered patina that complements my tempest greens

Vivid chards of amber to offset my mountainous blues

Your easy frame an open window, a willing respite

Fighting your way, straight to the foreground of me, for me

Withstanding, will they find us, the very wildest of climes

Undistracted

I watched
You watch
The fleeting snow
Before it took its leave
You put down your go

What did it tell you
What it told me
That bruises aren’t all bad
That time heals
All things

We saw
The three of us
You, me and the sky
The blue-green in our eyes’ skies
Not one can predict us

God’s guitar strings

I confess my foremost thought
Will Satan steal my ballad-blues
I let him steal my joy for you
He wants to have my therapy too

So should I wade through what the truth brings
To your hard heart through God’s guitar strings
Beyond my green-blue broken life
I will, I’ll breathe
And then I’ll write

The Battle of The Orchids

Perhaps
It’s why we had relative peace

Tho’ blue and red both
Magenta suited us

We smiled with eachother
Even when mad or weakened

Truths we spoke into being
During our long breaths together

We shared an ancient meal
Despite our different appetites

So Much Blue Sky

You warrant more verses

Come closer here

You chaotic data point

You anomaly of nature

Emerged from the bedrock

Suffered not by your world

Until too close to now

How many haven’t known

There are laws against thee
