Surprised to see the a.m. sun
Afire
Shining through
The door I’d forgotten I’d opened
Left open
To remind myself I’m alive
Praise
A part of this world
Apart from this world
And out of this world, too
Anyway, first, foremost
Tending to all the green
I thought to stop, I felt ashamed
Guilt
For all I’m giv’n, undeserved
But, my friend told me the currency
Grace
No pen or parchment paper
Each step, a begging
Each breath, a silent scream
An unwelcoming I want
Reversed
A grace I need
Extended
Why we need the woman-girl
Sharing the storyline
She will save you from yourself
Lest you think too long and hard
Let her show you the world’s flora
Should your day be canvassed grey
Dare to let her lead you
In some season of your time
Teach her of the wonder-workings
To the world you navigate
Wonder then, aloud, fine sir
“Her grace, how might I hold?”
What won’drous hair
Long, silken and grey
Just happy to be
In the warmth of today
Not longing for when
It flowed in long brown
But considering
Itself proud on my crown

When, without aiming,
you still dare to spill your soul
-there goes white-hot grace.
Been thinkin’ about
My next breath
The thought of it
A seeming impossibility
But then somehow
It does show up
And kisses my neck
Actually
As it should
Should we ask the why
Why valleys, why the deserts
Will I feel fear then
And for what purpose, blood
These questions steal my joy
So I must not indulge
My bright green eyes have found
What they need to see
His nature, his nature
Where true, due North is Love
My compass mark it is
My whole heart holds fast here
It’s unknown how it’s so
My feet seem always falling
On paths unpaved and thistled
Somehow my soul it knows
I’ll see the thankful temples
I’ll have girls own big books
I’ll sail silent down black rivers
You’ll come with me Grace
You happy Machine
How you build up gracefully
Please do not mind me
‘Tis Living Water,
all the rain, and those Oceans
beckoning the swim.
