So icy
It was
How many times did I cut my hands
Cut my heart
Cut my teeth
It was
As if I’d lived a thousand Januarys
Only
And I were a cold-blooded creature
Who’d somehow survived

gaze
Touch her bruised and battered borders
Know her shattered, suff’ring soul
Why did no one stand beside her
Have you heart as black as coal
Haiku for Julie B
Her heart in command
Whether days be bright or dark
She walks forth in truth
The flowers watch her
She shows them color and strength
They follow her lead

All Gone
The gods seized my feathers
And gave me in exchange
gossamer wings
Because they knew that I must fly
You stole my shoes
And mocked my innermost:
“dance, will you?”
Because you planned to watch me writhe
2014: A Haiku
Not denied my eyes
Told my heart to go to hell
That’s what I’d have done
Red
From a far away spot
To the center of my heart
I know you’ll find your way
I bet you’ll be an alien
To all I’ve ever asked
Pretend, will you?
As I acclimate
To say that so much stardust
So far
Left me dazed
And more than underwhelmed
Would be the best
Truth
So far
Bigger
What Holy adhesive
Bound there
And how dare it have
Yet failed elsewhere
What roses perfumed
Her walk
And hued tint reflected,
Affected his vision
Bigger it is
Their world
And their treasures, their eyes
In proper places
Transform: A Haiku
Oh ears of mine heart
Make peace with those of these eyes
Lest the noise take me
Thoroughfare: A Haiku
I’ve ages of proof
None may know my wondrous mind
Or steal my fine heart
Whole Home
The ol’ place out West
The Southern shadows in need
But more so, the Heartland
Then the universe in the North
Before the trek back East
