My You
This is my why
Forever the reason why
I wanted
I wanted us
Light
Together
Nights together
As Together People do
The hour didn’t matter
Just when midnite rolled around
I could reach and humbly find
My You
Her Elijah
Who am I if I
Cannot command the clouds
In this
Her hour of need, and summon from them
A hopeful down pouring
A covenant flood
While she, full of sorrow
Knows, at present, only drought?
I See
This morning, it seems, these eyes sting of defeat
“Look harder,” the stormy air asks
“See clearly the calm, the victory now, here for the weary faithful.”
It was passive perhaps, to remain on the mat
Yet, that was The Way, way back then
Voracity and patience, be purposeful now
That the challenge of hope, the determined eyes
Shall be the reward, the brass ring
Just pick up your mat
Just see
Provoked
I’m trusting you to make sense of all this
To put a rhythm to what you see
That’s my gift to you
Find your voice
Your meaning
Keep the hope that all will come alive
That’s your gift to me
Such steps will be as dancing
Call it collaboration
Kept
I keep reaching out to air -the nothingness there
I keep pressing harder, and liking it
With tears brimming in my eyes, and, whatever hope looks like, in my heart
I keep thinking I’m not thinking small
I keep reading between the lines that were not there for me at all
Second Thoughts: On Hope

Whom

The morning I think of giving up
Shades of moss green and orchid peaceably pull me back
As an elder, in Auto-Tune
Promising a child that dancing days lie ahead
An altogether different morning, now
That deserves
I deserve
A wholly-new and holy mind
Telltale
I know the something borrowed
Lace of the finest quality
Painstakingly tethered, stitch by stitch, to hopes and holy, holy covenants
The Queen and her heartless Jack
As jesters, and, despite the diamond, danced that old medieval dance, anew each day
I know the something blue
