Understanding: A Haiku
Information feigned
Captivated, I ask, “Why?”
Then set out to know
Education
It is a new cup, a blessedly empty cup, staring at me
I thought I knew no thirst
There you stand, eyes upon me too
Teacher, mentor, friend
In full passion
Larger than life’s lessons, thus far
Red-hot tea kettle in one hand
Abundance in the other
And I, with great thirst, indeed, am ready to receive
Concrete
We can’t call them untrue
The shadows forever forced against concrete
Are forever a part of you
But so too, was that moment before the bleaching
When you believed in the good air against your skin
Go back again, despite that it seems you can’t
Receive what the lurking has to offer
*Writing Prompt: Short, Autobiographical Story*
“Aqua Is My Learning Color”
I don’t remember much about Before except for all of it. And there was much good there…playing school, playing house, playing Lisa. But there was always the wishing…for calm, for kindness, for a Spanish guitar.
The time came, as it always, always will: Make a choice. Choose open eyes. Desire trust, peace and hope over only wishing.
The sting of tears comes more often than I’d thought it could. Learning does also. Learning to trust oneself and learning that peace is always present for the taking and giving. And Hope – the damned, beautiful Thing – it’s all I’m made of and it refuses to leave or be rationalized away.
I saw prettiness today. Its name is Lisa. Its name is Everywhere. And I sent for The guitar. Somehow water was involved.
This Haiku: Away
Laughter come with me
Down the path from the pain of
What I thought I knew
This Haiku: Mr. Cloud
What message, soft light,
may I learn from you this morn’
-to anchor my day?
