The Good Fight: A Haiku
I have been wished for
Time will see that I’m fought for
Cherished and cared for
His Vision: A Haiku
It was love back then
The Genesis of all this
He saw me from dust
My You
This is my why
Forever the reason why
I wanted
I wanted us
Light
Together
Nights together
As Together People do
The hour didn’t matter
Just when midnite rolled around
I could reach and humbly find
My You
Peace Signs
Oh, air
Be the mouthpiece
Speak trouble to trouble
Love to love
Circle round treetops
Salute the sun
Bid the grey-skies goodbye
Fill up the space inside our lungs forcing the silence to sing
Lovesongs again
Burst through perceived blockades
Hasten our footsteps back home
Shadowboxing
In the evening, I sat out, well beyond 8:58
The front porch shadows shielded me
That I might pretend
My bedtime hadn’t come and gone
The smile in my telephone-voice wasn’t masking a mom’s tortured heart
Acceptance would come and those few miles away, would prove okay, someday
Hood ornaments on passing trucks did in no way devastate
This wasn’t the calm before the storm
The temperature wouldn’t dare drop, degree by degree, with each sip of my sleepy-time tea
The gardens weren’t soon going to hell
My choice to survive hadn’t offended my God
Tomorrow, no one would know
Green Skies
The things we learn to love
Born of sorrow, sometimes
Longing, for what has gone away, never to return
Decide, I decided
Let go, as the Sage said
Learn to love anew
Town Red: A Haiku
In that small venue
The Mountain asked to be mine
And I acquiesced
Dud
I imagine the universe echoes us all
At some point distant, or close
Rings back like a lover, or brother, or friend
Then, silence -when you need them most
It’s possible love transcends murderous words
In subsequent lifetimes, or past
A dynamite stick, burning from both the ends
Its light soon to fizzle, it’s heat a mere flash
Late Rainbow
The waning light
Bleeding, bruised
Yet, on fire for me
Like Lot’s wife
I looked
But found mercy, found grace
Having fled the chaos
Found a late rainbow
There
My heartpath must choose
