Now comes that Daylight
Unrushed
Dawning is its finest hour

Enamored, Twilight
‘near-still
Exhaling shimmery sounds

Watch we, All Aglow
Content
Praising, and under their spell

What’s something you’ve done that you never thought you could?

I compromised for a time, so that I could become. ✅

The Storm, in its sea, accuses me,
“What is the point of poetry!”

With no need for applause, I look upward and nod,
“Museless soul…inquire of God.”

Filthy Streets

What’s the most underrated life skill?
The most underrated life skill is mastering temperance — one cannot know, unless they’ve exercised it, precisely how peace-giving it can be.

Mystery
Uncertainty
Would that these were a joy to me

The heart-drop ache
Steals breath away
Long last — night yield to long-lost day!

If Universe
Has done its worst
The path is clear, the last is first

If the salary was the same, what job would you be doing right now and why?

It took me a less than a split second to answer this question. Regardless of whether the salary was the same, I’d go back 40 years and become a member of our U.S. Air Force, rather than have allowed myself to be talked out of it. The reasons are for God and Country.

I see you
Shrouded, but standing
Never for naught,
Reminding me
All I was taught to do
Admonishing
There is still more that is true

I pray for you
Storied…strong, be
Herald in healing,
I ask for thee
Glory, revealing the fight!
Unfolding
Until all know The Light

How would you describe yourself to someone who can’t see you?

If I were to describe myself to someone who can’t see me, I wonder whether they’d see the vision — or hear it in my voice — if I’d instead describe people with whom I’ve kept company, then admit my shame over not having been even remotely careful.

I collect keys..and the like
Cowardly

In the night I create
I skulk nigh
Leave doors unlocked
Then explain
‘Twas not I

I tear mirrors…from concrete
Angrily

In the abstract I create
I demur
Leave laughing
Then I stare
‘Twas once her

Over My Head

What’s the story behind your nickname?

The story of my nickname cannot be spoken of, except to say, the name bespeaks eternity.

What for, to light a candle?
What?

Would that someone’d say!

I found no well-reasoned choice
To light one, yesterday

Know, the tears, the sweat, the soul?
Ghosts!

Sweep it all away?

Time will never come to pass
When these stray from the fray

Soldiering

Of them
Didn’t I wish
Didn’t I know

Oceans away
None stars to petition
None shores to defend

Ancient ancestors
Why did you leave
Why am I abandoned

Great Grandmothers
I will remember
I will resolve

Remade, I
A Galloglass now
A Hoplite hero

What strategies do you use to increase comfort in your daily life?

There is much pain in These Days, and Prayer to comfort it is all I know to devise.

Where are my words
All of the aches, and achings
Brought to my body to bear
Vanquish them
Except to say, Amen.

What’s one small improvement you can make in your life?

Adding a fuchsia flower, tucked behind my ear — symbolizing I’m at peace — would be more than a small improvement in my life.

If I be sixty
‘Twas the Flower in my hair
The Peace in my path
