Northern Light
There were three questions
I’d no right to ask
I see you wish I had notI’ve a curious mind
The love-life-deep kind
And you instigated my thoughtInterrogatories
I hope weaved with “Please”
They stream through my head, back and forthThe Which, What and Will
Remain with me still
For answers I’ll always search North

I hope this morning
You’ll look far back there, look deep
And think of your Fire
Gold
I struggle to know
If, as a girl,
I always did just the right things
I shutter to think
When I grew up tall
That none of it mattered at all
I listen to learn
If time will whisper
I needn’t have any regrets
I wait and wonder
If the caring I shared
Imprinted my name on gold stone
What Unknown
You anticipate
Ev’rything I do
I take you to school
And you break the rules
We live life on the mats
And get back up each day
What unknown compels us
To stay and stay and stay
Strength
Why do you slip behind me
And stay silent
Why do you touch me with your quiet
And just watch
I Need You: A Haiku
I find art always
Throws itself down at my feet
And asks for my arms
Impending Dawn
You’re not of this world
Or at least not yet
Or maybe no longer
Or are soon to be again
It’d explain everything
Like the silence
Like the dark
Like the feeling of impending dawn

He must love his Mom
Else where’d such affection been learn’d

Time after time
And the light in his eyes, how it burns
He calls Her “his girl”
Let her cherish it so
‘Tis a rare heart that ’round these words turn
