Fourth Rising
The western sky, brooding
Way over there, watching dawn become done
Has come to understand despite its expanse
I, in the east, looming
May be much too much this morning
Heat and light
Backyard Blackbird: A Haiku
Slow-motion moment
Becomes that magic minute
Through sunlit feathers
Dud
I imagine the universe echoes us all
At some point distant, or close
Rings back like a lover, or brother, or friend
Then, silence -when you need them most
It’s possible love transcends murderous words
In subsequent lifetimes, or past
A dynamite stick, burning from both the ends
Its light soon to fizzle, it’s heat a mere flash
Ten and Two
Classic, after all, I am a lady
Iconic, as a woman, too
Such as time can be,
How could I have known
When, while yesterday, a girl
Today I’d be enough?
Homeland
Gutted
This constitution
Any declaration of wholeness
However hard-fought
Stripped
Provoked
I’m trusting you to make sense of all this
To put a rhythm to what you see
That’s my gift to you
Find your voice
Your meaning
Keep the hope that all will come alive
That’s your gift to me
Such steps will be as dancing
Call it collaboration
Late Rainbow
The waning light
Bleeding, bruised
Yet, on fire for me
Like Lot’s wife
I looked
But found mercy, found grace
Having fled the chaos
Found a late rainbow
There
Beauty me up, artist
