Something Gardens

A sunny day

On this, the fore-edge of Spring

It looks like something good happens here

In this, the place they renamed, “Something Gardens”

Although I see really only billboards and bungalows and bulldozed-over housing projects

And strangely, no gardens

But there is the color and promise upon everyone’s skin

The special sauce in people’s blood

So I become sure

I plan to see the Something Good that happens here -those “Something Gardens” that mean to grow

So I stay and I work

I help

I sow, that someone else may reap

I wait

And I see that I, too, grow

O’ Our Stars

Not obtuse
Not acute
Not Hell-bent for the stars

I must go
I must be
I must give what is ours

If you look
If you ask
If you promise what’s true

You will find
You will learn
You will become who’s you

Wedded

Unending morning, I Am
Forever working out the pain
Unweaving the lies from the hours of you

The promise, I Am
As yet undelivered to the ether
Present and unstoppable now, you hearts

Wedded, I Am
To the heavens, to the Everywhere
Moving, pondering all of you ages, We

Allergic

And it all went black
There in the moment I realized
Nobody makes promises anymore
No one has courage
Take vows from the ink
Make them come alive
And the heat lightning rap-rap-rap-rapping
‘gainst my glass window pane
Will not prompt me to doubt
It all went black
