Let’s try this again
Let me hold what protects you
Let time take its time

Wild Erased

Just settle down
Tell it to your manic
Who used to threaten the world
If it harmed a hair on my head?

Just go gently
Take your wild, man
Ever contemplate the green
Would snuff it out for settled-down love?

I look at this skin

I see it, I see hope

Splotchy, yellow-blue at times

Like the shades of a bruise

Slow-moving

At the pace of a lizard’s cool blood

Sometimes

Yet always

Legs to carry it and a thick exterior

To protect it

Should it pain me or try to run

Is all I know to do

Pretend
Like confetti exploding
And
Ticker-tape falling
Escapes
From ecstatic eyes
Flows
Through fearless fingers

Dear Flower, I thought,

please kiss him from me – but no
