Tree Talk

…content, are you…though my tears cast shadows upon thee…tears whose weight and multitudes you were neither courageous to have carried, nor worthy to have caused?

…odd and overcast be…this, your lot…connecting you to your willing wickedness…try to fell me…try…here on this truthed ground I stand…am what I ought to be, whilst you are not.

(Inspirational Credit; “…In a real sense, all life is inter-related. All men are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny….”
— Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., “Letter From a Birmingham Jail”)

how to fight

not alright to need
neither ought we pause to breathe
nor dawdle
to this I can’t concede

grasp for ev’ry next brass ring
should we choose to hold out hope
hope for one more decimal place
such mandate was tiring

trade our souls for bragging rights
nevermind the sunrise
harbor disdain in our eyes
instead I chose against the Night

Kadesh

What might we share?
Except for some source of light
And the cello muse
I won’t pretend to know

Though

I like soft things
You like the edge
I’m drawn to abbeys
You’re from the deep

I flirt with irreverence
You respect me
So maybe we could stand
A day or year

A treaty, here

Find peace
Decide
Praise The Rock from which The Water flows
Not far from Jordan

As I Stand Today

Ode to the she-stranger, whom I never met

Yesterday, upon my knees

“Respiras,” my aura begged her

Then quietly and years ago, she-stranger did oblige

As if she wore my atoms, said for only me to hear

“You lucky, lucky girl.”

Reasons

It is an unexpected hour
Not too late
Not too early
Enough light so that we can still hear
So go back and look again
Do you see the soft shadows asking
Don’t disengage
Do you feel the air giving
Reasons to stand
