Come Away

The wide world and it’s watery chops

Making messes unprecedented
Burping and belching and barking for relief

What understanding might we gain if we come alongside
Think as heathens
Take what is ours
And so come away empty

So empty

Judgment Seat

What justice do you come in seek of

That I’d admit my guilt
My foolery
How I failed in my duty to know what I didn’t know
A detailed confession, then
I sat in err, from nearly the start
Took what wasn’t mine
Gave too much away, too soon
Believed I was privileged in prayer
A hypocrite before you with a bias I wanted kept secret

Nothing not already evident

Telltale

I know the something borrowed
Lace of the finest quality
Painstakingly tethered, stitch by stitch, to hopes and holy, holy covenants

The Queen and her heartless Jack
As jesters, and, despite the diamond, danced that old medieval dance, anew each day
I know the something blue
