When I next see you
Will it be for the first time
Or were you always
A continued call for kindness
with a steadiness of hands.
A reaching out to others
here at home and foreign lands.
Bold proclaiming peace’s value
and an absence of the whirr.
All while roaming starry-eyed
with a soft decided purr.

Since we must seek it,
in response, it travels far
-Light. To still our minds.
I am calling for my smile,
I was sure it had been lost
or was sold for a fool’s ransom
without thinking long-term cost.
What a gift that soft voice woke me
to its absence and the shame
and that mindfulness and value
make me remember its name?
Protect them I will
Kept wrapped inside all my heart
Ten-fold joy returned
Lust: For the life not lived.
Fear: Of the life that should be.
Fixed Feet: That bid me “stay.”
