At The Door

You’re going to guide you to truth

Step now into the absolute
With open eyes
Fling far your wishbone
For what virtue
Demands you
Walk blind in the grey

Stutter-step and stiff-arm
Nay-say all you need
Wrestle with doubt and despair
But befriend and deal kindly with time
There’s a lifespan to learn
And eternity to spend

Daily

Thick with it, time was
But the naïve do not know to know
All the breath was of wishing ghosts
The music -mere lawful lies
And none were bowed but to their own bruised hearts
Sing me away they said

The Things

That I might
Lift your chin
Draw you near
Throw out rules
Of grammar, etiquette
Specious rules that they are

Limited I am
To you
Limitless I’d be
With time
My, aren’t we
Mindful

Movement

I love that he answered the call
Hung up a shingle, of sorts
And waits bold in the Capitol street-front picture window at 8:52am
To tell us it’s never too late
But it’s time

With Each Cup

Each morning I think
You’ll find me, time
In the beauty that I walk with

At midday I’m sure
That you’re afraid
Of the clutter of my first name

With evening I wish
You’d peel away
My frazzle before we sleep

decidedly

 time

will

tell the tale of how you would stack these rocks

whether in rows or rings or to reach the starlight

it may not be for me to know

behind me is water

a half-written life

arms reaching ahead

and north

an imperfect I love you flies from my hand

with a tail as long

as

time

Otherdust

The caravan lurched to a halt
We fling open the door to the night
And laugh looking back
Veils whipping in the warm quiet
Lock-step, foreheads forward
Through sand and scorpion
Drawn, we touch
The star-dusted moment in space
Where you tore time
