Fireworks, Baby

Count yourself among the many
Who do not care to consider my midnight musings of any value
To know my heart-wrenching pleas for your return
Sent unrequited out

But what you need know
My last diary entry was a mid-summer date
Immediately before the fireworks, but after my hope expired
Your birthday, baby

Andromeda

Before begins the countdown
A single opportunity abounds
Surely you see it

Before I seek a new galaxy
The last simulation
The door closing

Before bedtime today
Knock, You
I’ll deny the universe begging

thud

my voice evidenced
the most beautiful of white billowing
powered beyond the universe
since you decided never
now i sing of raindrops
silent, steady-falling
raindrops

They Touched

I heard him begin to breathe deep
Even breaths
Slipping away into sleep
Lulled
Garrison Keillor on the radio
If there’s ever a doubt
That the universe exists
As much in us as we in it
Watch and listen
To a child
And a storyteller
At the same time
