This Haiku: You’re It

Exhilarating
And oft excruciating
Tag-play with this kid

This morning

He had a tripod
Or a fishing pole
And the sun was at his back
He had my heart in his rucksack

Peace now I offer
Captain, what ship do you sail?
Whispered back the deep

Why not fall in love
With all there’s to see, hear, touch,
Taste, smell, find, do, learn….

I had to wonder.
How was the view, where you stood?
Did you think to climb?

I heard breath
in the dark
was not mine
seized my heart

Only know
I felt sure
shadow too
in the door

Breath and shape
please strum strings
to jumpstart
heart again

I am interested in That soul.

My shoulder feels nice
It is silky and most strong
It is free and warm

Did You see the stars?
Lo, I autographed their dust
as they dined on mine.

Take but not tame, your trouble
Soothe but not still, your restless soul
Be but not block, your exits
