Hope Transcends Darkness
The elusive brass ring
that I swore I’d not chase.
I see it up close now.
I’ve come face to face.
It sears as I grab it
and I’d hoped that it would.
The pain makes me smile.
The suffering feels good.
I take off my shoes now.
Let the Race pass me by.
I stay and am one with
my hope -Magic Eyes.

I watch in awe as, with inexplicable determination, a breezy green prince leaps ‘cross my path without care that I may decimate him as I bear down with salt-blurred vision and an uneven pace.
With equal determination, I point my wild wheels in his direction and plan to spin him as I hear him smile “Ribbit.”

Inspiration Misplaced
He admonished me today.
For losing sight.
For talking with false gods.
For seeking their comfort first, or even second.
“That’s not fair to any of us.”
I agreed to take anew His hand.
