Sister asked, “How do you know when you’ve met your true love?”
I recall I beamed, “With each passing day, you Love the person More.”
After decades of consideration, brother added, “I agree.”
“Smile.”
“No, I’m too…for pictures!”
“TOO Bad. I just took yours -and no you’re not, you’re perfect. Perfect.”
I glanced at her, this post-baby lady -one on her hip, one at her feet, one on the field- with stretchy cotton dress, good-enough ponytail and thought, he’s right.
Time stopped. My smile met his smile. With an admiring heart, I gave him my best thumbs up.
I love our place.
I honor our Race.
I examine the mud and blood of my path.
What say you
-spirited children?
-neighbors in need?
-hungry strangers?
-weary warrior in the mirror?
I see springboard seeds of loving kindness.
I promise no further discount of me.
Jump into Mom’s arms
and tell her your birthday wish.
You’ll never be “too….”
Except too perfect.
But we revel in that fact
and are part of it.
