If You Bunt

Then

bind Me, to your battered back

hold with Me, the stainless scythe to cut the palms

pact with Me, that hands become One

Family

Oh God thank you, that in your love and wisdom, you knit together the Miracle that is the human frame.

You formed the bones and skin and muscles, sinew and nerves in such a way that They need each other.

May These limbs hold fast to all that is dear. Let the right arm take hold of the left arm and form the bridge of Faith between the Two.

Full Circle

One. Holding hands grants sound sleep.
Two. Sound sleep saves the soul.
Three. Saving souls is not man’s work.
Four. Man’s work must seek others’ redemption.
Five. Redemption leads to the desire to hold hands.

I Love Words

My love affair with words includes
His Word, his Words and his words.
And her words, my words and your words.

I live in them, I love in them, I learn from them.
From these mouths to all our feet, I yearn for them.

Sundays

Somebody say the secret
for shaking off the soul-stealing suck
of the familiar that serves
to sever sunrise’s shine from the resolve
and to steal the stars’ sparkle from the rite.

(Sleep:)
