lovely as a book

Such is my soulmate
A book
A hardcover Guide To Kindness

This marriage
No industry harm shall it do
Mixing anecdotes, poetry, humor

For love is truly love
Each genre held in high esteem
Original edition, sacred

danger and art

there are books in my bed
they remind and renew
the wealth of knowledge
and the hard wonder too

there are books at my feet
by my side, in my heart
i long to feel fear
of their danger and art

and this book in my hand
that is covered in dust
it speaks to my soul
with a passion I trust

Torn Pages

I know
The unwritten Book
Its dulled dust cover
With pages well-worn
Everyone’s read It
In the questioning eyes and
On the stiff shoulders of
Others

Our names are all written inside
Clear, permanent ink
Identities edited
Feathers smoothed
What you expect of me
What I expect of you and
The consequences for failing
I know

When we see The Sun
And warmly shrug our shoulders
I know I’m in good company
That Book always scared us
So we skipped school
I know we often got busted
But here we all are today
Repurposing Books

while I read

Seek me in the soft
Shadows where I’ve the need to play

Find me on the frilled
Fringe as I take dares each day

Catch me on the kindred
Curves where ease and danger meet

Take me to the tall
Tree and wait at my feet

Oh My Tree

I know all the places that I want my feet to roam

To start with, I bow down at the tall Tree that I call Home

My eyes intoxicated by each knot where I fall short

I think my tree’d endulge me a slow swing and a high fort

I’ll want no fancy curtains and no spark’ling countertops

In this fort all I’d wish for are our books and the treetops

And please, two chairs, two cups and tea in case I receive guests

Then one last thing, a strong table where roaming feet should rest
