You’re every reason
To stay, laugh; and cry sometimes
To not run and hide

This Haiku: Extra Smelly

God causes flowers
To rise up strong from life’s cracks
To hug life hello

They’re hearty and kind
They smile and share sweet stories
They won’t be trampled

My pen rests a bit
I find jade-green grass, plaid skies
And triple-dog dares

Things will turn around
You’ll show up and they’ll show up
…going, going, gone!

Rock, Vine and temples
I’ll stay quietly with you
And then walk inside

A boy who slayed hate
Then a man who chased your heart
The dash on my stone

Every speck of you
Necessary dustiness
As we two tip-toe

As simple an act
As two creatures holding hands
Tells me there is God

I owe you much for
Silly feet, muddy hands and
That I breathe out loud

On our walk today
