You’ve kind with your wise
A shy smile after Bright Eyes
This world needs your style

This Haiku: I Bargain Today

If I jump gentle
And God will give His blessing
Will you breathe for Me?

I’ll never forget
The hand and the sideways smile
That left me breathless

Nor animal tracks
That pitt-er-pat-erred on my
Heart and bees that buzzed

Pleadings to breathe deep
Love more, cherish time, notice
-Dismiss at what cost?

Photos, TV shows
Pink hearts, one big hug -stay too
All’s as it should be

Set tall boundaries
It’s your best idea yet
No one dares cross them

I wrestle with wild
It stiff-arms, to keep me safe
It smiles and it waits

An eternal friend
When I cry, you stay near me
You expect my smile

Green eyes. Green sweater.
Green legs. Green heart. What am I?
Hoping to harvest.

To “A Thousand Years?”
I don’t know when I’ll give up.
I want to Dress up.

God, You kept me then.
Now in the moments and years
to come, keep me still.

I’d need not a dare
to take that first step. Look there
at the other side….
