You hardest of hearts
Unable to be kindness
I choke on the why

There’s so great a need
So many of us searching
For loving kindness

You’ve treated the truth
as a hip-pocket secret,
to be tucked away.

Another secret
(whispering): You’re a gambler
with no hand to play.

One-Hundred-Thousand
percent of me is for you.
I have that much, yes.

You roller coaster
With that loop de loop de loop
So thrill me baby

Still, jeweled City
There was never ruin here
And none illusion

I do. I don’t care.
I can see what that makes me.
All you wouldn’t want.

You will fade away
It’s just me and I’m sorry
I wanted the whole

They’ll photograph us
Just This Once here in the vast
Where old stars are born

Become accustomed
To the hot knife through butter
To fierce follow-through
