What must I breathe out
That when I breathe in again
We would both be one

Sky Eyes: A Haiku

Let your mind rest there
And know that I love you true
Now think the best thoughts

His laugh was gentle
His laugh was honest, child-like
I might’ve kissed him

I see fortitude
Why then do I need her skin
Why seek her shelter

I am to want you
I’ll spend my breath to find you
I do desire you

A lanky barn cat
Content to chase the sunlight
And roam near our home

I turned the corner
And decided I was thrilled
At the fear I felt

Half-draped in canvas
I would want to fall in love
If I saw her there

Then the photograph
Capturing her rare virtue
I’d hang on my heart

O’ what for my eyes
Where they cradle, who they hold
Will they be held back

These early mornings
Whisper wake up together
Both at the same time
