With we by our side
With the storm being The Calm
With hope a-rumblin’

With we by our side
With the storm being The Calm
With hope a-rumblin’

not alright to need
neither ought we pause to breathe
nor dawdle
to this I can’t concede
grasp for ev’ry next brass ring
should we choose to hold out hope
hope for one more decimal place
such mandate was tiring
trade our souls for bragging rights
nevermind the sunrise
harbor disdain in our eyes
instead I chose against the Night

I hope you’ll hope
And see there is to see
Good, and with goodness
Together we
These seas of fire
These seas of glass
Truth, having embraced truth
Rebuild anew
A life worth living
An overflow worth pouring into

Fire, framed by black, black fear
Lament of the trauma years
Yet, hold hope, for truth rings clear
‘round the edges, light appears

I wish you away
The Valentine’s Day
50 pounding headaches ago
I
Sanely spoke
I
Tread purposefully
I
Smiled, generally
Hope was automatic
The mirror and I, friends
I walked free of you then
Spring forward to Saturday
This happy day
Rearview mirrors ripped away
Now comes Springtime
Again

Nothing here is new
I’m hurting today
If you’re trekking alone in the dark
The train station within sight
Hope of home in your heart
Schedule unknown but hoping you won’t be late
Those obstacles in the meantime?
The throngs of strangers
The loved One who neither noticed you’re gone, nor cares whether you’ll ever return
A nearly dead battery and bank balance
Yesterday tethered around your ankles
Take comfort, you are seen
Someday, in 20/20 hindsight, find
A candle shone in some window
That beautiful soul, burned for you
The train leaves sharp at 11:11pm
You are loved far greater than you think
Now run, freely
And step lively

May I melt into you at sunset, when our day is done, and the deep — delicious, as a buffet — lies before us?
