Into One

Leave me
Bad timing
Filterless funnymen
Ghosts of the most awful prose

Wash me
Rhythm of mine
Gleeful girl-woman
Eyes on the here and the now

Find me
In universe perfect metre
Simple-hearted simpleman
Helpless and helpmeet alike

Heaven, Here

It's our backyard
We're allowed
We allow ourselves
Such rights
As to keep a few toys strewn about
Such pleasures
Of the dancing of sun and shadows
Upon the nearly too-long grass
That feels so silky
So blessedly silky
Against our ankles and feet
And the breeze….

Fingerprints & Footsteps

I'll see you in all of the places
I suppose
In both the tough and simple spaces
I know
I expect every mile
And mountain
Each roadside diner
And map dot
Holds
The possibility and the not
Of you
The pedestal and the truth
Of you
Had I the insight
To the strength of your tarnish
Would I have walked life
Alone
I can't know
Would that you'd see me
In all of the places
I've touched, but I know
You'll choose the not

Gabled Walls

We are the In
Between
The Middle
Absorbing and reflecting back
All the inspiration they have inside

We are the Many
Around
The Gate
Herding and harnessing
All the good they long to give

They Touched

I heard him begin to breathe deep
Even breaths
Slipping away into sleep
Lulled
Garrison Keillor on the radio
If there’s ever a doubt
That the universe exists
As much in us as we in it
Watch and listen
To a child
And a storyteller
At the same time

Allergic

And it all went black
There in the moment I realized
Nobody makes promises anymore
No one has courage
Take vows from the ink
Make them come alive
And the heat lightning rap-rap-rap-rapping
‘gainst my glass window pane
Will not prompt me to doubt
It all went black
