That I was never a crown jewel
Did me no harm
For under the pearl
I know I was birthed
There is though my anguish
My heartbreak from grey
For what reason my shroud
And his shame

Backward to Here
Or are there cobwebs inside
Is the dream still alive
To let me see inside
To beg the moon
To the window pane
To plaster my aching face
To run then walk up
From here to there
To speed thru urban then country veins
I am consumed with the want
Now cracked by Creeping Charlie
Atop a concrete vast
Always remained empty
A shiny brick and glass box
An oasis to soothe the desert
The middle of rural elsewhere
When I’d hope for
I witnessed years ago
The barn-raining of sorts
Racing back to my mind’s insomniac eye
It is the middle of midnite
Here in the diamond city
Clutch
The conversation amongst Creation
Ripples through the wood
Chip-chirp, hoot-whoo, back and forth
Speak they, then stop
Perched strong atop
The corner of their branches
To consider whether serving
As her a.m. alarm
Is worthy
Of their majesty
Remembered
He
With a clarinet voice in June
On a lone sun day sang his joy us tune
What a gift was he
Me
On a journey that won’t end soon
Thru windows without strings calling the moon
He’ll remember me
Orange
Please
Know what I don’t know to ask
Hear my whisper in your sleep
Awaken
Take my Hallows’ Eve hair into your hands
Pledge to me
Light a candle
Taste of orange
Ward-back this oddest of aches
Please
god dust
god i miss you.
when you birthed me, did you know it would be so?
did you know i’d tick the days as a prisoner
-chalk dust covered fingers-
reliving my crime at the turn of every corner,
without hope for redemption?
At The Door
You’re going to guide you to truth
Step now into the absolute
With open eyes
Fling far your wishbone
For what virtue
Demands you
Walk blind in the grey
Stutter-step and stiff-arm
Nay-say all you need
Wrestle with doubt and despair
But befriend and deal kindly with time
There’s a lifespan to learn
And eternity to spend
Rest: A Haiku
Here is a place now
Where one has yet to take me
Please let me find you
Forego
It is early
It is late
The bell is tolling
The toll is rising
Here we are at dawn
‘fore the human storm
Early risers pray
Darkness be too late
Bound
Cottontail Cottontail
Just where are you off to
I’m the leader of the pack of one
Who will track you
Darting from the underbrush
What did you have to fear
Stroked my curiosity
To learn what your ears hear
Now the journey’s on my sweet
Give chase to my sinew
Your re-fu-sal for fits and starts
Sets my re-solve anew
