Peaceful Poem

People have promised me
Twice today
With all the confidence
Of the heart of a child
With all the solemnity
Of an old-fashioned hymn sung in unison
Everything will be
As everything ought

People, I promise you, too

eyelash

It strips me of power
And at arm’s length it bids me to wait
While it keeps me in too-clean shirtsleeves

But, does it not prove I have hope
And might it not be rocket fuel
What if it makes truth come true

Upon Reflection

Hide me, I demand it!
The day has been too loud.
The music was not pretty,
The minutes, rarely proud.

A heap-pile in the corner.
A room without a friend.
Hide me, I demand it.
I’ll rest and rise again.

Stumbling Blocks

You must and you will walk through that last door and dodge stumbling blocks, puddles and smells. And pain.

You’re gonna go breathe.

No, the sun and its smiling to-do will not stop you.

Be forewarned, it may slow you. It may pause you to play.

Should you stumble upon flowers, puddles, smells and such. Wanting the ache of it all.

Borough

The happenstance plan
Under the stars and string lights
With the city beat-beating below
It was only some dream

The welcome interruption
For once, a green dress and escape
Whispers in Spanish, not saying no
It was a safe, motorcycled yarn
