Flower Peddlers: A Haiku

A leather-looped cord
Hanging taught, holding a light
Where there’d been sorrow

resigned: a haiku

the mind is certain
it knows two opposite truths
two parallel truths

If only in words
Still come hither fine hero
Inspire our good deeds

What if no one comes
Will we still thrive all alone
With only ourselves

May the compassless
Be given travel mercies
They know not the way

Invisible ink
Would that my heart not run dry
Ought my pen bleed out

OH to be Summer
That most fortunate season
When her skin feels bare

Yes I cannot wait
To breathe sea spray from your wings
The deeper you fly

Do get through it. How
will you be okay today?
What words will you say?

I trust that by now
Your hands have healed completely
And her gloves are off

Your door I’ll keep closed
And your peace will be my peace
